Amelia (Throckmorton) Allen is a New Jersey Gateway Ancestor (descended from royalty or nobility). Strictly speaking, Amelia's "immigrant" Gateway Ancestor is John Throckmorton (1601-1684).

Thomas J. Allen (1834-1915) married three times. 1) Anna Jones (1837-1861) who died young, 2) Amelia Throckmorton (1843-1877), and 3) after she died, he married her sister Jane Throckmorton (1846-1914).

The first 12 photos were taken on a sunny day with the inscriptions in shadow, the last 8 photos were taken on a cloudy day and the inscriptions are more readable. William H., Alfred R., and Annie M. Allen are children who died young of Thomas and his three wives.

These photos augment (and include) the Allen photos found here. The return visit was mainly to photograph the grave of Thomas J. Allen's first wife, Anna (Jones) Allen, but also had the benefit of better natural light conditions.
