When you Google "FedEx sucks" (Try it: Google FedEx sucks) you get a whole host of hits like these:
On March 14, 2021 I placed an order for a book from a company on the Internet.
Via email, it shipped on March 19, 2021, and it had a tracking number, with FedEx, sadly.
On March 23, 2021, I eventually checked the tracking. It said there was some trouble: Delivery exception, awaiting additional delivery information from recipient. (all of the emails I have from the company have my address in multiple places on the forms, so this is impossible. No other carrier has ever had this problem).
I had not been contacted by FedEx. So I complained to the shipping company, asking them to straighten it out. They tell me they did. Apparently, to no effect.
I created a FedEx customer account, saw the shipment, and as best I could, gave instructions to deliver it at my address, and leave it on the front step. I say as best I could, because the site is apparently designed to be as confusing as possible, with no certainty that your input is accepted, if you can even figure out how to submit it. And the process of creating the qccount suffered at least one time of going into an endless loop, evidencing extremely poor website design.
Numerous attempts to get live on line support failed. They would never get back to me.
So I waited, and waited, to receive the package, or even hear from them.
March 26, 2021 I got a postcard (click to see it, private information masked; sent March 23, 2021) in the US Mail, at the address that they are unable to find(!!!) that says "need correct address". The very address that is on the package, I am sure, and they can't seem to figure it out. The stupidity of this fiasco is unbounded. The stupidity of FedEx.
So here is audio of my March 26, 2021 phone call to them (private information muted) to unsuccessfully, so far, sort this out and get the package that should have been delivered long ago.
It seems that they were still awaiting input from the recipient, (me!), to help them translate what it says on the package to a deliverable site. What any 10 year old in the world with an Internet account could do. But apparently, not FedEX!
Thus this permanent entry in my Corporate Hall of Shame!
FedEx Incompetence and Stupidity deserves its own reward. The postard image and the audio of my resulting telephone call above prove beyond a shadow of a doubt the incompetene of FedEx. This page will remain on the Internet until I am no longer around to pay the bills. Then it will still be at the Wayback Machine. That is forever.
I have strongly recommended that the conmpany that made this shipment blacklist FedEx. I make the same recommendation to anyone reading this.
Bottom line: I still do not have the book yet. If that should ever change, I will update this post.
March 27, 2021. I still do not have the book yet. No contact from FedEx. An informative comparison: On March 23, 2021 I placed two orders with Lands End. One shipped on March 25, the other March 26, both by UPS, a professional, competent, and trustworthy carrier. Both packages arrived on March 27, 2021. UPS was competently able to find my house from the address, did not endlessly and incompetently ask for and bungle acceptance of delivery instructions, in sharp contrast to FedEx horribly bungling delivery, and not able to execute delivery to date. FedEx has one mission in its existence, to deliver packages. Which they cannot seem to do. I strongly suggest blacklisting them.
March 29, 2021. Still no package delivery! I received an email from the company that sent the package asking me to confirm my address. They said they had reached out to FedEx (at least the second time!) and asked them to deliver. My reply to them:
You know that is the correct address.
I know that it is the correct address.
FedEx has been told numerous times that is the correct address.
It is the address on the package I am sure.
It is the address that Amazon's carriers, USPS, and UPS, have used successfully to me hundreds of times in the past pandemic year, without a hiccup.
It is the address that FedEx is too incompetent to find and deliver the only package to that address that they were contracted to deliver in the past year that I am aware of.
The only direct contact I have had from FedEx is the US Mail postcard, sent to me at this very address!!! I have no phone calls from FedEx. I have caller ID and an answering machine. No contact.
I'd say you have an open and shut case of breach of contract with FedEx. You contracted with them to deliver the package. They failed. Miserably. With numerous attempts between you and me to fix their incompetence. They are hopeless.
I strongly suggest that you never, ever, use them again. As I am suggesting in the web site, and circulating the URL to every corporate site I can think of that might even think about using FedEx.
I left out one important point above. Not once did they leave a notice at my door. This is important combined with their correctly addressed postcard. This shows that they are too incompetent to find the address themselves.

April 2, 2021. Update: No phone message. No email. No delivery. My March 26, 2021 phone call (see above) was insufficient for them to correct their incompetence. My email to the CEO on March 29, 2021 (see above) has also had no response.
An interesting New York Times article today: FedEx Pays No Taxes So FedEx is a leech on American society.

April 12, 2021. Update: No phone message, email, or delivery from FedEx. They remain now, 100% incompetent in this delivery. They also now fail any semblance of "customer service", despite numerous attempts to reslove this.
I can report that I now have the shipment, a replacement generously offered and completed, from the business, who I am admonislhing to boycott FedEx forever more. They shipped it via USPS, and there were zero problems. Completely the opposite of FedEx who could not even manage to correct their failure. They apparently decided to remain a failure forever.
I continue my quest to get FedEx boycotted and banned from use by large corporations and Federal Government agencies.
